Our StoryOur flock began in the summer of 2025 with Indio Gigante chicks from Rare Roosters' Florida farm. Lacey and Telly are two of those original birds. Itty — our 42-inch herd sire — is their son, hatched right here in Live Oak, Florida. Meet the birds behind our breeding program.

Get to know the breed
The Indio Gigante is a Brazilian breed known as one of the tallest chickens in the world. Here are two clues we use to read our own birds:
Pea comb — a key sexing clue in young birds. Roosters grow larger, redder combs earlier than hens.
Saddle feathers — check the lower back. Hens: short and rounded. Roosters: long, pointed, and glossy.
Want certainty instead of clues? Our in-house DNA lab sexes chicks with 99.9% accuracy.
