To ensure your samples are instantly matched to your flock and processed without delay, please follow these steps carefully:
Update Your Quantity: Change the order quantity to match the exact number of birds you want tested (1 quantity = 1 bird tested).
Checkout: Complete your purchase online. Note your Order Number from your confirmation email.
Collect Samples: Collect a single drop of blood on a clean Q-tip (toenail quick method) or pluck 2–3 fresh feathers from each bird.
Label Sequentially (1, 2, 3...): Place each bird's sample into its own individual Ziploc bag. Simply write a clear number on the outside of each bag starting at 1 up to however many birds you are testing (Bag #1, Bag #2, Bag #3, etc.).
📝 Critical Step for Your Records: Make sure to keep a permanent master record at home matching those numbers to your birds (e.g., Bag #1 = Blue Leg Band Indio, Bag #2 = No Band Rooster Pen, etc.). Your official lab results report will reference these exact bag numbers!
Ship to Us: Put all your labeled Ziploc bags into a mailing envelope. You MUST write your Order Number boldly on the outside of the shipping mailer. Envelopes received without a visible order number cannot be processed.

You can submit samples using one of two highly reliable methods:
The Nail Quick Method: Use a clean pair of nail clippers to just nick the very tip of the chick's toenail quick. Dab the single drop of blood directly onto a clean cotton Q-tip. Allow it to air-dry for a moment.
The Feather Method: Pluck 2 to 3 small, fresh feathers from the breast or leg area. The feather must be plucked, not picked up off the coop floor, so the root bulb contains fresh DNA pulp.

Frequently Asked Questions
What age can chicks be tested?
Testing can be performed from day one of hatch using the nail quick blood method. For feather testing, we recommend waiting until the chick is at least two to three weeks old to ensure the growing feather shafts are large enough to contain sufficient DNA pulp.
What is the turnaround time?
Our standard in-house laboratory processing time is 2 to 3 business days from the moment your physical samples arrive at our lab. Results are emailed immediately upon completion.
